CineGuard - Anti-Piracy System

images/namer.jpg

The CineGuard system make use of the ROSE100 technology and is able to identify and prevent illegal recording of films by pirates.
The system consists of a local detection head and a server inside the theatre and a Central Server located at a Network Operation Facility. The local server is connected to the Central Server in the NOC ( Network Operation Center) via private secured network. The Central server is capable of monitoring the local detection device in the theater for connectivity, functionality and maintenance purposes.
The detection head is disguised and installed behind the masking at the bottom of the screen in order to coverage of all the effective rows where illegal cam-cording normally occurs. The detection head uses a hybrid system that can detect cameras using infra-red light illumination and visible light self-illumination, or both of them in parallel. Its management software and algorithms automatically decide how to use the multi-wavelength illumination in order to avoid annoying the audience but at the same time provide a solution to different threats.

Anti-Piracy System Operation

If a recording device is detected by the CineGuard system during the playback of a movie, the detection head will take a picture of the area around the recording device and automatically send an alert with the picture to the Network Operation Center. In the Control Room, a visual channel is openned to the specified cinema room, so the operator in the Control Room can examine the case in order to approve it.
Based on user defined policy system notifications, the operator in the Network Operation center will review the picture and when he/she approved, the system sends the picture it via email and SMS (text meassages) to the authorized studio and theatre representatives, as well as the third party security company's representative at the theatre during pre-release screening that is hired by the studio. The pictures of the area detected as suspected with a cam-cording device are being saved as documentation or for further examination.
The Cinema or Studio representative will decide how to proceed according to the Cinema Network or Studio event policy.

The privacy of the audience is preserved since the CineGuard algorithms works automatically, without person in the loop. Only images of cam-cording devices detected automatically are sent to the Control Room and are saved for documentation only if they are approved by the operator.

The system can be installed permanently in theatres that are being used constantly for premieres or temporary (using the mobile set) as an aid for the use of the security guards when in a casual location.
When dealing with a temporary installation, the Control Room can be either at the Central NOC facility or in a local place inside the audithorium or nearby.
